Spanish Fiesta Gift Basket - Premier
You don't have to be hungry to eat and you don't have to be thirsty to drink…this saying seems to say it all about the culinary delights of Spain and the passion Spaniards feel toward their food. They are pleased to offer some of Spain's finest:
Mahon: Spain's 2nd most popular cheese. Made on the island of Menorca, this cow’s milk cheese is cave aged for at least 60 days. (1/2 lb.)
Manchego: This is a sweet, nutty sheep’s milk cheese made in La Mancha. (1/2 lb)
Murcia al Vino: This is a pure goat’s milk cheese from the stunning region of Murcia. Often referred to as Drunken Goat, this cheese is washed in local red wine. (1/2 lb.)
Idiazabel: A handmade, raw, smoked sheep's milk cheese from the Spanish Pyrenees. (1/2 lb.)
Malagon with Rosemary: Made in La Mancha from sheep's milk, the rind is encrusted with dried rosemary. (1/2 lb.)
Chorizo: This is a spicy cured sausage imported from Spain. (9 oz.)
Stuffed Manzanilla Olives: Juicy stuffed olives from Andalucia. (5 oz.)
Piquillo Peppers: Sweet, tender, juicy red peppers grilled on beech and oak charcoal. (9 oz.)
Marcona Almonds: Sweet and delicate almonds roasted over a wood fire and dusted with sea salt. (4 oz.)
Bonito del Norte: Whole filets of tuna packed in extra virgin olive oil. (6 oz.)
Spanish Fig Cake: Also known as Pan de Higo, this flourless cake is made from dried figs pressed with almonds, walnuts and anise. Fabulous served with cheese. (300g.)
Quince Paste: Known as Membrillo this preserve is a classic sweet pairing with the saltiness of Spanish cheeses. (300g.)
Serrano Ham: Authentic Serrano, using only fresh ham of the white pig. Salted, cured, aged 9 months, and pre-sliced. (3.5 oz.)
Dorset Drum English Farmhouse Cheddar
It took them a while to find a signature Cheddar that could live up to igourmet's standards, but while visiting the English countryside, they discovered a worthy candidate. This aptly named drum-shaped delight from Dorset sets a new standard for Cheddar excellence. Perfectly aged, hand-dipped in
a black wax and packaged in a decorative box, Dorset Drum makes an excellent gift. Exceptionally sweet and tangy, it tastes nothing like any mass-produced Cheddar you have ever sampled. This quality product does come with a price however - it is one of the most expensive Cheddars for sale in
America.
Valdeon (Cabreles)
This Spanish blue cheese is often sold as Cabrales in the United States because its flavor is similar to that bold blue, but is slightly tamer. It, therefore, appeals to a wider range of palates. The cheese is made in the Castille-Leon region of the northwestern Spain and is wrapped in chestnut
leaves before being sent to market. The cheese has a very intense blue flavor, but is not as yellowed or as biting as true Cabrales.
Mahon
Mahon is produced on the Mediterranean island of Menorca in the Balearics. Although it is a small island, Menorca produces enough cheese to make Mahon Spain's second most popular cheese next to Manchego. A 100% cow's milk cheese, Mahon comes in large squares of about 6 pounds. Ripened in
underground caves for at least 60 days, Mahon has a bold, magnificent flavor that could never be called mild. The yellowish-orange rind conceals a soft, slightly salty and decidedly spicy interior. This unique cheese is a must try for any cheese lover and an absolute necessity for the true
connoisseur.
Boschetto al Tartufo Bianchetto Boschetto is about as amazing as a cheese gets. Its base is a sweet, tender and mild cheese made from a careful balance of cow’s and sheep’s milk. Mixed throughout are shavings of rare white truffle that transform the cheese into a powerfully addictive delicacy. The master cheesemaker at
Il Forteto has struck a precious harmony between the pronounced, pungent taste of the extremely scarce (and expensive) white truffle and the blended milk cheese. The result is a scent and a flavor that simply bowls you over with delight. To separate this product from the rest of their product
