Technology
has
come a
long
way.
The new
flat
panel
televisions
are an
example
of
this.
Flat
Panel
TVs are
lightweight
televisions
that
can
either
set on
top of
a stand
or
table
or hang
from a
wall or
ceiling
and are
generally
only
three
or four
inches
thick.
The
most
common
ones
are the
Plasma
TV and
the LCD
(Liquid
Crystal
Display)
television.
Both
the
Plasma
and the
LCD are
very
popular
now
because
of
their
size
and
performance.
This
innovative
technology
currently
dominates
the
television
market.
In the
recent
past
flat
panels
where
very
expensive,
but are
getting
more
affordable
as the
technology
is
aging.
The
Plasma
TV is
generally
the
larger
of the
two
ranging
in
sizes
of 42
inches
and up
and has
an
outstanding
picture.
It was
not
designed
to
display
video
games
or to
be used
as a
computer
monitor
though,
and
that
type of
use
could
cause
burn-in.
The
LCD on
the
other
hand
was
designed
to
interact
with
your
personal
computer
and
video
game
equipment,
as well
as for
use as
a
television.
It also
has a
very
good
picture,
but not
quite
as good
as the
Plasma
and
sometimes
satellite
or
cable
programming
doesn't
display
as well
as with
the
Plasma.
Because
neither
television
has a
lamp
like
the
rear
projection
TV does
there
is less
maintenance
so they
are
more
cost
efficient
and
should
last
well
over 15
years.
There
are
many
models
and
sizes
available
in both
types
of flat
panels
and
since
they
are
becoming
more
affordable
now, if
you
shop
wisely
you may
find
the
deal of
a
lifetime.
